I am back in Chania, having spent around 10 days in Agia Galini and 4 or 5 days elsewhere. I camped all but 3 of those evenings and met wonderful people along the way. I’d like to list them:
Ioannis and Kanella for your hospitality; Stella, for hosting me on your couch; lady for going out of her way to give me a ride to Zoniana; mafia in Zoniana, for giving me ‘herbal’ tea and bread; Bruno for talking to me for a few minutes as a fellow traveler; fellow outside of Kapariana for giving me a ride when I was frustrated; Steve Windburne for giving me a ride to Agia Galini, for inviting me for drinks, for giving me Eric’s CD, for making ‘me a sandwich, bitch,’ and for making me feel welcome; Patrick at Apnea for fantastic service, letting me sleep in the kitchen, buying my Coke, and being open during the winter; Ari for buying me a Mythos Red and for sharing my love of Leffe and for informing me about Agia Galini’s curse; Sandra for informing me of the nightlife in town; Annemieke for being my surrogate mother- offering me use of the shower, computer, and giving me so much; Andreas for being my bar buddy; Hans for telling me your life’s story and representing Austria in our epic international darts game; Gary for the cig; Christo for the raki and friendliness; Michele for the joints and educating me about kite-buggies; random kid for buying my Sprite at Gold Sun; Katerina for allowing me for your name-day celebration; goat in the yard for being my friend and trying to rut against my leg; Vince for being a fellow atheist and for buying so many damn martinis; Bart and Yvonne for operating a fantastic bar; Francesca and Roger for being gregarious and lively; Rose for being kind and loving cats; Ioannis for inviting me fishing even though we didn’t go.
Well I hope that’s everyone!
