I arrived in Iraklio yesterday and walked around for a bit. The backpack I have is really uncomfortable (although Dad, I’m thankful for you buying it anyway) and I was not happy having to walk up and down hills with it. I found a nice military backpack today, so I think I’ll buy it. It’s not that expensive and I think I’ll be happier in the long run. I took a trip out to the village of Agia Varvara today, lost my camera, and hitchhiked in the bed of an old man’s truck to a smaller village. This was all in the mountains, where clouds hovered below the peaks of the Psiloritis, blanketed by a quilt of olive trees, fields, and villages. Goat bleats danced from mountainsides. It was nice. I will take my new backpack and a bus and go from village to village. This is doable for sure, and I actually have the resources to accomplish it. The Quebecois mentioned that the southern temperature reached 28 recently, which is ridiculous and if it stays like that I might be able to swim there. That would be super duper.
Hmm what else is interesting? I thought there was something and if I remember it I’ll let you know.
